Investment firm hands £650,000 to charities supporting young people

Seven charities are to share £650,000 in unrestricted multi-year grants made available by BGF Foundation, the charitable arm of capital investment firm BGF.

The grants aim to improve education, employability and health of young people in areas it operates in UK wide including London, Oxfordshire, Manchester, Birmingham, Brighton, Cardiff, Kent, Nottingham, Leeds, Newcastle, Bristol, Cornwall and North Wales.

“We’ve designed our funding approach to provide long-term support, unrestricted funding, and the backing of our entire BGF community through pro bono and skills-based volunteering,” said BGF Foundation chief operating officer Charlotte Moses Rains.

Pro bono support from BGF staff covers marketing, legal, finance, digital tools and governance.

The funding will scale up the Foundation’ volunteering, mentoring, and operational charity support that already involves more than 100 staff.

The charities to receive funding are Access Sport, Social Mobility Foundation, Think Forward, Sister System, Team Domenica, Go Beyond, Jon Egging Trust .

“We’re pleased to have deployed the largest funding round to date, impacting seven incredible charities supporting children and young people across the UK,” said BGF Foundation chair and BGF chief executive Andy Gregory.

Moses Rains added: “We’re trying to make this as mutually valuable as possible. Charities get meaningful input, and our people get the chance to contribute their expertise to causes that align with BGF’s values."
